Christmas appeal for Seafarers

The Mission to Seafarers has launched an appeal to bring Christmas cheer to the thousands of seafarers who bring in our luxury goods and essentials.

The international maritime charity needs donations so that its chaplains and volunteers can ease the hardship and isolation of those working at sea during the festive season.

Last year the Mission gave over 10,000 Christmas gifts to seafarers. They also provided other help, friendship and advice on board ships and in the Mission’s 260 port centres around the UK.

A seafarer’s life is a dangerous one; in fact, somewhere around the world, two lives are lost at sea every single day. The Mission tries to make a difference not only at Christmas but throughout the year.
